DOCUMENTATION OF BHAVNAGAR
BUILT HERITAGE
Bhavnagar has an abundance of historic structures. These include palaces, temples, mosques, churches and other places of worship, historic houses, public buildings such as schools, colleges and hospitals.
While some of this tangible heritage is maintained well other monumental structures have either been raised to the ground, abandoned or just not maintained well. Bhavnagar Heritage believes that for any place to retain its heritage fabric it is essential to sensitise the people living there.
A general awareness and community interest is critical in any town or city.
Documenting Bhavnagar is one such initiative, which was started in 2018 with an aim to list the historic structures of the city and district. We hope that this helps in creating public awareness and encourages basic maintenance of the city. This project is also particularly resourceful for researchers in the field of art, heritage, architecture, engineering.
